Jim Neiss, Program Director

Jim has 20 years working with young people. He has taught all ages from kindergarten to college. His primary work is in science education. Combining his community-based youth work with his graduate degree in Biogeochemistry from Stanford University, Jim was the director of the SF-ROCK Program at San Francisco State University; a research experience pipeline program to inspire middle and high school students to become Earth and environmental scientists. Jim’s past program have been funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Currently, Jim teaches science and mathematics at a unique public school in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Range. He is a dedicated dad to three children.
