The Program

Part 3: Scientific Conference, Poster Presentation

Our region is fortunate to host the largest annual gathering of Earth, environmental, and space scientists in the world during the second week of December. Each year over 20,000 scientists converge on San Francisco’s Moscone Center to share cutting edge research in their respective fields.

Each year, the Conference hosts a special poster session for young people. It is a well-loved session and many attendees come to support the youth.

The session lasts for 3 hours where your child will be visited by attendees and will have the chance to explain his or her research. The youth session is generally on the second Thursday of December.

Highlights: sometimes we have exciting surprises. A few years back we were honored by a visit from Al Gore who spoke about scientists role in educating the public about climate change. Last year, one of our youth was interviewed by National Public Radio. Every year there is a luncheon hosted by the conference specifically for youth attendees at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The luncheon and conference registration is included in our program fee.
